Thirty-year-old Lauren Cantrell planned to spend her last day in the U.S relaxing on the beach in Ocean City, but a chance meeting with Michael "Rad" Radcliff changes everything. Maybe it was the salty air or the scent of coconut oil; perhaps it was the excitement of the Boardwalk, or the mesmerizing sound of waves lapping the beach. In any event, Lauren lets down her guard long enough to be swept off her feet, and spends the next twenty-four hours having the time of her life with a man she just met. At the end of her whirlwind visit, Lauren is sorry for the secrets she had to keep, but thankful for the memories that were made. She'll need those memories where she is going. As for the secrets—well, another chance meeting half a world away reveals that Lauren isn't the only one with a covert career that couldn't be disclosed on a sun-soaked beach. Readers who are familiar with Ocean City will enjoy this trip down memory lane as the main characters enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes and traditions of the famous Boardwalk. Those who are unacquainted with this seaside gem will discover why it is considered a top summertime destination. From the shores of Ocean City to the mountains of Afghanistan, this novel is about the dedication of our military, the honor and sacrifice of our soldiers, and a relationship that is tested and sustained by the powerful forces of love, courage and resolve.Read More

What was the stimulus for going from writing historical fiction to penning a contemporary novel set in Ocean City, Md.?
I went to Ocean City to put the final touches on one of my historical fiction novels, and ended up staring at the ocean and writing bits and pieces of this novel instead. It came to me so powerfully, that I felt it was a story that had to be told. Although it is a different genre than my historical fiction novels, the themes of honor and duty to God and country are still the guiding force of the plot.
What was your inspiration for the book?
The inspiration for this particular book -- and really all of my books -- is to honor the men and women who defend our country by showing their personal sacrifices and devotion. I don't think most civilians understand the depth of commitment and degree of selflessness it takes to be part of the one percent who devote their lives to protecting the rest of us.
What do you plan to do with the funds you raise?
My other books have had a lot of success -- both with literary awards and sales -- but I would like to take this book to another level in its distribution and marketing. After the book is released in June of 2015, I plan to donate a portion of its sales to the Special Operations Warriors Foundation, so I hope you will spread the word and help make it a success!
